The January 2010 Jobseekers Allowance figures have been added to the Local Economic Monitor. The figures include data on the number and proportion of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance, the ratio of claimants to available jobs, and the calendar year changes in the number and proportion of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance.

In addition data on the total number of Job Centre vacancies for January 2010 has been added to the LEM.

Data for a range of key DWP benefit datasets has been updated for August 2009.  The following indicators have been updated on the Local Economic Monitor

• Working age DWP Benefit claimants - This dataset is a can be used to monitor changes in overall worklessness, covering both those who workless as a result of illness, disability and care commitments as well as those workless as a result of unemployment.
  

• Incapacity Benefit claimants - This provides an additional measure of worklessness for people who are unable to participate in the labour market due to sickness or disability.
  

• Income Support claimants - This dataset can be used to monitor change in the number and proportion of people living in low income households.
